The book is designed to teach students to speak English at an intermediate level. The volume contains 20 short stories and special training drills based on the speech plasma method. This volume will enable foreign students of English to feel more comfortable with the language at an advanced level. The book is a collection of stories told by people in an everyday conversational manner. The stories are accounts of incidents or ideas that the people interviewed consider interesting or entertaining. They are not intended as great works of literature, rather as examples of people using their language naturally. The stories are the sort of tales you might hear in a pub or at a party - reflections on anything from weather and inquisitive neighbors to a passion for music and how it can help handicapped children. At times amusing, surprising, entertaining, or simply hard to believe, they are all related in the kind of natural, informal style that language learners so often wish to imitate. This collection will help show you how to do just that. ungekürzt. Language: English. Narrator: Alistair Brown. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/030952de/bk_rhde_002536_sample.mp3. Based on the Speech Plasma Method, this collection of stories on 50 topics will help foreign students of English go through the most vulnerable period of learning - pre-intermediate level. At this stage students do not see their progress clearly enough and often feel increasingly anxious and frustrated. All the 50 stories are accounts of Julia´s everyday life. Being a real person Julia tells her stories in a very natural way revealing her own style and manner, repeating the same grammatical structures and word combinations. As a result, students easily remember the stories, speaking more and more fluently. Fluency practice drills that accompany each topic accelerate the transition from pre-intermediate into intermediate level. These special Speech Fluency Drills are used to generate a super active area ´´speech plasma´´, thus producing all the necessary conditions for spontaneous, automatic speech. Once created in your mind, speech plasma acts as a stimulator for further language learning. The bigger and stronger your speech plasma grows, the more fluently you speak, the easier it is to absorb new words and grammar rules, the faster you read, and the better you understand oral texts. ungekürzt. Do you want to become more fluent in English? Do you want to understand everyday language and not just ´´textbook´´ English? I taught English for many years and saw that many students get stuck at the high beginner/intermediate stage. They learn the basics and then can´t move forward. This problem used to really frustrate me because I had lots of excellent students who were just stuck and eventually they would give up. I thought for a long time about what was wrong and then decided that it wasn´t that the student didn´t have ability but that what they were studying and how they were studying was not effective. I saw that even though they had good basic English they would read textbooks full of their native language (not English). I used to think, ´´Why are they reading all this German, Japanese, etc. about English and not just reading English instead?´´ I decided to see if I could fix this problem. I started assigning students homework like ´´watch this English drama with subtitles and then without´´ or ´´read a short article every night for a month´´. I found the results were amazing. My students started becoming much more fluent and confident. This convinced me that the best way to become fluent was to read or watch real English that was interesting to the students. So I started writing short stories using easy to understand English mixed with idioms and phrasal verbs that native English speakers use all the time. In this book I have added explanations in English so you don´t mix up English and your native language in your mind. I have also included easy to understand examples which I recommend you note down in your notebook so you can remember them easily. In my opinion, learning idioms, phrasal verbs, and useful phrases is the best way to move your English forward as you will be using the vocabulary that English speakers use every day. ungekürzt.
