Gravel Bike and Cooking Pot Cycling and food are a great fit, as chef Henrik Orre has shown in both of his cookbooks that focus on food for competition and training. This time he takes us on an outdoor cooking adventure by gravel bike in Norway, where we ride with him along gravel roads, down steep mountain faces, and through deep valleys. In 50 recipes grouped by "Bike" and "Basecamp", this book presents dishes composed for both camp stove and campfire - food that you can just as easily cook and eat during a quick break as when you set up a camp with more equipment and more accessories at hand. The recipes are wonderfully simple and are presented flexibly to suit different situations, tastes and moods. You can easily make them at home as well. Not only that, but the book presents a selection of 25 tips for a successful cycling adventure, including tips on how to make that most vital of brews – coffee. The book comes in a design ziplock bag together with a spork (spoon & fork). "Good food does not have to be difficult, and Outside is free is all about combining simple ingredients in easy recipes, to create amazing flavors in an outdoor kitchen." - Lifeinthesaddle.cc Author: Henrik Orre 155 pages 150 x 210 mm The book is published English

English Justice (eBook, ePUB)

Originally published in 1965, English Justice between the Norman Conquest and the Great Charter discusses the history of English justice in the period of the Norman Conquest, of the Angevin achievements, and of the contrasting reigns of Richard I and John. This book looks at this period in light of the great work done by Felix Liebermann and others on Anglo-Saxon law, which made possible a new estimate of the inheritance entered upon by the Norman conquerors. The book discusses how the writ and sworn inquest can now be safely recognised as arising in the years when the communal courts of the hundred and the shire - under royal surveillance - administered justice to the English people. The book also looks at the vigour of the conquerors and how, through the exertion of the king´s writ, the sworn inquest was developed into the jury. The book discusses how Henry II, not the West Saxon kings devised the returnable writ from which later developments in English judicial administration grew, and how he built up a permanent bench of judges based at Westminster, from there making periodic journeys to administer justice throughout the land. With all their many faults, the early Angevin rulers, King John as well as his father, were concerned to play their part as kings who provided justice and judgment for their subjects.

Political English (eBook, PDF)

From post-truth politics to ´´no-platforming´´ on university campuses, the English language has been both a potent weapon and a crucial battlefield for our divided politics. In this important and wide-ranging intervention, Thomas Docherty explores the politics of the English language, its implication in the dynamics of political power and the spaces it offers for dissent and resistance. From the authorised English of the King James Bible to the colonial project of University English Studies, this book develops a powerful history for contemporary debates about propaganda, free speech and truth-telling in our politics. Taking examples from the US, UK and beyond - from debates about the Second Amendment and free-speech on campus, to the Iraq War and the Grenfell Tower fire - this book is a powerful and polemical return to Orwell´s observation that a degraded political language is intimately connected to an equally degraded political culture.
