Essay from the year 2018 in the subject Philosophy - Practical (Ethics, Aesthetics, Culture, Nature, Right, ...), grade: 2,3, University of Winchester, language: English, abstract: This essay analyzes the ethical consideration of animals. Humans have the right to hurt or bring suffer to an animal, if they are able to provide a reasonable cause. This it is left up to humans, to decide, when it is acceptable to let a non-human animal suffer. It seems to be pretty complicated to define whether there is a reasonable cause or not. The fact that humans have this right in modern society, and where this right comes from, would be considered as the base for movements like the animal right movement. This essay will take a closer look at the development of these concepts and argue if non-human animals should be ethically considered. The analysis of the human and non-human animal relationship and the question, if animals have rights, goes back to antiquity. The answer to this question involves a few factors, while the main factor is and was the position humans have in comparison to non-human animals. In history, most of the time, humans were put highly above non-human animals. This was mainly because of two reasons, which have been very constant for centuries. First, the God-likeness of humans and their ability to be reasonable. It seems to be very random to claim that reason is connected to the ability of language or is necessary in order to have a mind. Non-human animals use language to communicate, but it is in a way that is beyond the understanding of humans. It is out of question that non-human animals can suffer and feel fear. If humans are such moral beings, this alone should be enough to not harm them.
Trump Is an Animal! is the third in a series of illustrated books that include Trump Is Extinct...or May Be Soon! and Trump Is Nuts! While Trump may be nuts and going extinct soon, he also may fight like one of the many animals featured in this book, as well as thousands of other animals. The reason for all the fighting, especially among the males, is for power, territory, and females. And like these animals, Trump is constantly fighting one foe or another. In a spirit of wild and wacky humor, Trump Is an Animal! features Trump as a variety of animals fighting other animals for power, territory, or females. It also includes insightful commentary on how these battles point to what is happening in the presidential election. When you purchase this title, a collection of ready-to-color illustrations will be available in your Library section along with the audio. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Michael Dale Cato. First published in 1845. Struwwelpeter (variously translated as ´´slovenly´´ or ´´shock-headed´´ Peter) has become widely recognized as one of the most popular and influential children´s books ever written. Heinrich Hoffmann was a Frankfurt physician. Unhappy with the dry and pedagogic books available for children at the time, he wrote and illustrated Struwwelpeter as a Christmas present for his three-year-old son. The book relates in verse and pictures the often gruesome consequences that befall children who torment animals, play with matches, suck their thumbs, refuse to eat, fidget at meals, etc.Written in rhyming couplets and illustrated by the author, the book was an immediate success. It has since gone through hundreds of editions and been published in almost every European language. The present volume reprints 25 color plates from a German edition (including a bonus plate done for the 100th edition in 1876) with the reset text of a standard English translation. Also included are the full German text and an afterword with a brief biography of the author and note on how the book came to be written.Children, bibliophiles, antiquarians?any lover of time-honored tales for children?will welcome this new edition of the classic German story.Content is optimized for tablet.
