It is Greenwich, Connecticut, in the early 1950s, and a set of twins is separated at birth by a desperate nurse. Nat Davenport goes home with his parents, a schoolteacher and an insurance salesman. But his twin brother is to begin his days as Fletcher Cartwright, the son of a wealthy CEO and his wife. During the years that follow, the two brothers grow up unaware of each other's existence. Nat leaves college at the University of Connecticut to serve in Vietnam. Returning a war hero, he finishes school and goes on to become a successful bank executive. Meanwhile, Fletcher has graduated from Yale University and distinguished himself as a criminal defence lawyer and politician. As their lives unfold, both men are confronted with tragedy and betrayal, loss and hardship, all the time overcoming life's obstacles to become the men they are destined to be. In the tradition of Jeffrey Archer's most popular books, Sons of Fortune is as much a chronicle of a nation in transition as it is the story of the making of these two men and how, eventually, they come to find each other. 1. From International Best-SElling Erotic Romance Author Sierra Cartwright"Even racier than Fifty Shades." (Mail Online)"Cartwright’s writing is wonderful. The words flow easily, and as with earlier books I was seduced into the world she creates. Also, as I’ve mentioned in other reviews, she has a knack of teaching about the BDSM lifestyle through her books without detracting from the erotic, without making it seem like an actual lesson. Everything seems natural and the story rolls effortlessly." (Long and Short Reviews)Book six in the Mastered series.  What could be headier than the surrender of a powerfully dominant woman?  Dom Damien Lowell has always respected Domme Catrina Davidson. He likes the way she interacts with her subs - confident, kind, firm. And for years he’s fantasized about her submitting to him. What could be hotter than having the sexy Domme squirming beneath his lash?  One evening, Damien challenges her, saying she’d be a much better Domme if she experienced submission...to him.  Catrina doesn’t have a single submissive tendency. But she’s oh so turned on when she watches a sub respond to Damien. A secret part of her is intrigued, and she asks herself, what harm can come from giving him two weeks?  Over the next fortnight, she is introduced to the pleasures and perils of servitude. She has to admit that he’s right - her understanding of submission is deeper, more profound, than it would have been otherwise. But the private experiences they share in the Den leave her emotionally shattered, making her question everything she thought she knew.  In her unique way, Catrina too challenges Damien, forcing him to grow as a Dom, and he wonders how the hell he’ll ever be able to let her go. 1. Murder. Mayhem. A madcap lady vicar.Reverend Annabelle Dixon is the charming, slightly gauche, very tall, thirty-something vicar of St. Mary’s Church, which is located in the picturesque village of Upton St. Mary in Cornwall, England. Recently appointed to her rural church position, Annabelle is beloved by her parishioners for dispensing good advice and godly wisdom with humor and charm while zipping her Mini Cooper around the country lanes and attempting to build a relationship with her church cat, Biscuit, who, quite frankly, couldn’t care less.Trouble arises when Annabelle faithfully welcomes a new resident to her quaint parish. Her visit to the latest newcomer, Sir John Cartwright, is twofold: to greet him and to dispel rumors of shady doings at the manor. This time, however, instead of tea and cakes, Annabelle is served a heaping plate of murder and a fine helping of handsome inspector Mike Nicholls!Filled with laugh-out-loud moments and cake and pastry recipes, this humorous, cozy mystery is an excellent introduction to the Reverend Annabelle Dixon series. Included in this audiobook are recipes for:Wicked Walnut Cupcakes with Magnificent Maple Buttercream FrostingBeatific BaklavaChaste Chia Seed and Coconut MacaroonsAngelic Almond Cupcakes and Abundant Almond Butter FrostingInterview with the Creator of the SeriesQ - So, what makes the Reverend Annabelle Dixon series special? A - Annabelle. When I set out to write these books, I wanted to create a series that featured a heart-warming, smart, sometimes ditzy, ultimately good protagonist that we all undisputedly adore. I love mysteries so there was no question this character was going to be involved in solving them and I set it in the Cornish countryside, right at the end of England.  1. Language: English. Recursive Origins

In Recursive Origins: Writing at the Transition to Modernity, William Kuskin asks us to reconsider the relationship between literary form and historical period. As Kuskin observes, most current literary histories of medieval and early modern English literature hew to period, presenting the Middle Ages and modernity as discrete, separated by a heterodox and unstable fifteenth century. In contrast, the major writers of the sixteenth century-Philip Sidney, Edmund Spenser, William Shakespeare, the Holinshed Syndicate, and their editors-were intense readers of the fifteenth century and consciously looked back to its history and poetry as they shaped their own. Kuskin examines their work in light of the writings they knew-that of Thomas Hoccleve, John Lydgate, William Caxton, and the anonymous London Chronicles-to demonstrate that fifteenth-century textual forms exist within the most significant statements of literary modernity. In short, by reconsidering the relationship between literary form and temporality, we can reach across the firewall of 1500 to write a more complex literary history of reading and writing than has previously been told. Moving beyond his central critique-that notions of period and progress are poor measures of literary history-Kuskin develops and demonstrates the hermeneutic power of recursivity as a powerful challenge to a linear view of literary historical periods. Kuskin appropriates the term 'recursion' from computer science, where it describes a computer program's return to a subprogram within itself to perform a more complex procedure. Books, for Kuskin, are recursive: they imagine within themselves a return to an earlier moment of writing, which, when read, they enact in the present. His is a profound claim for the grip of the past on the present and, more locally, a reclamation of the importance of the fifteenth century for any discussion of sixteenth-century literature and of the relationship between the medieval and the early modern. 'Brilliant and provocative, William Kuskin's Recursive Origins: Writing at the Transition to Modernity is original in its combination of literary and book history, compelling in its vision of a model of recursion, and inspiring in its ambitiousness. It is the kind of book that literary studies needs right now.' -Kent Cartwright, University of Maryland
